Prime Minister Carney, other leaders wish ‘Eid Mubarak’

PRIME Minister Mark Carney said in a statement on Eid al-Adha on Wednesday: “Today, Muslims across Canada and around the world will celebrate the beginning of Eid al-Adha. This sacred day, also known as the Feast of Sacrifice, marks the end of the Hajj pilgrimage.

Eid al-Adha is a celebration of compassion, generosity, and service. These are values that are fundamental to Canada and at the heart of Canadian Muslims’ contributions to building a stronger, more prosperous future for all.

I wish a blessed and happy Eid al-Adha to all those celebrating. Eid Mubarak.”

Premier David Eby

PREMIER David Eby said: “Today in B.C. and around the globe, Muslims will gather together to mark Eid al-Adha, one of the holiest festivals in the Muslim calendar.

“This sacred time, also known as badi Eid, or the Feast of Sacrifice, is a time to remember the devotion of the Prophet Ibrahim, and to celebrate the conclusion of the annual Hajj pilgrimage to Mecca.

“Many families observe this time of joy and thankfulness with prayers and with charitable giving, and by gathering together with friends and family for festive meals.

“During this time of celebration, I know many will be thinking of people they care about who are overseas and affected by global conflict. We join with them in wishing for peace and safety for people in Middle East and around the world.”
