Program provides new arrivals with greater flexibility and access to vehicle financing

In support of newcomers arriving and settling into Canada each year, TD has launched an enhanced, New to Canada vehicle financing program, offering recent new arrivals—including Permanent Residents and Temporary Foreign Workers—the opportunity to get on the road quickly and confidently.

“Newcomers to Canada often list car ownership as a top priority on arrival—yet the process for acquiring a vehicle can be challenging for anyone who needs to qualify for financing without a Canadian credit history,” says Michael McGhee, Senior Vice President, TD Auto Finance Canada. “We’re thrilled to offer new Canadians an enhanced financing process that makes it faster and easier to get behind the wheel, with enhanced loan terms, increased loan amounts, and lower down payments across certain financing programs for those who qualify.”

The improved program is available at TD Auto Finance approved vehicle dealers and is intended for eligible newcomers within their first five years of arrival in Canada.

“Updates to our New to Canada program result in more flexible repayment periods and lower monthly payments for customers, making it easier and more affordable to purchase a vehicle,” says McGhee. “Owning a car eases the transition into life in Canada, helping new Canadians better explore job opportunities, navigate their new community with ease, and provide reliable mobility to essential services.”
