Richmond RCMP investigating collision involving pedestrians

ON Saturday, June 22 at approximately 1:20 p.m., Richmond RCMP frontline officers attended the intersection of No. 4 Road and Williams Road for a two-vehicle collision involving pedestrians.

A grey Toyota Tundra was driving southbound on No. 4 Road, crossing the intersection at Williams Road on a green light, when it was struck by a black Ford Edge. The black Ford Edge was allegedly driving eastbound on Williams Road before turning right onto No. 4 Road, striking the grey Toyota Tundra. The Edge subsequently mounted the sidewalk and struck two of three pedestrians who were on it.

The two pedestrians suffered significant injuries and were transported to a local area hospital for treatment. One pedestrian has since been released from hospital with injuries to the foot, leg and abdomen. The other pedestrian still remains in hospital.

Both drivers remained on scene and are cooperating with police. Impairment is not considered a factor in this collision.

Richmond RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) with the assistance of the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) attended and processed the scene.
