ON April 17 shortly after 10 p.m., Richmond RCMP responded to a reported theft in progress at a retail establishment in the 4600-block of No. 3 Road. Loss prevention officers reported an individual exited the store with multiple items without payment. Richmond RCMP frontline officers were on the scene swiftly to engage with the individual, who was allegedly found in possession of stolen goods.

The suspect was arrested without incident. The subsequent investigation revealed the individual was wanted on two outstanding warrants for previous shoplifting offences.

“Effective community policing is at the heart of our operations, and this arrest demonstrates our proactive stance against retail theft in Richmond,” said Inspector Mike Roberts, Richmond RCMP Operations Officer, on Tuesday.

“We encourage retailers and the community at large to promptly report retail thefts. Timely reporting is crucial, enabling us to respond effectively and deter future incidents.
