RICK Hansen Hurricanes are the 2017 BC High School Boys 3A Basketball Champions after defeating South Kamloops.

The Hurricanes were behind for 85 per cent of the title game. The first quarter was one to forget as they scored only 6 points. It wasn’t till the 4th quarter that they realized “hey, this is for the championship!” and woke up. The Hurricanes came back from behind to win 69-63 over the South Kamloops Titans.

The Championship Player of the Game was the Hurricanes’ Josh Dhillon Rick Hansen, who was also the Most Valuable Player of the tournament.

It’s the school’s first-ever basketball provincial title. Indeed, it was the first time that Rick Hansen had even made it to a final game. But it is the second straight year the Hurricanes have earned a provincial medal; they won a bronze last year.
