SEA to Sky RCMP (Squamish Detachment) say that on Monday, July 20 just after 10 p.m., they received notification of an overdue private airplane that took off from the Squamish Airport and failed to return.
Sea to Sky RCMP took initial steps to locate the plane and were assisted by Whistler and Squamish Search and Rescue teams and CFB Comox 442 Squadron. The missing plane was subsequently located in the Brandywine Valley. The occupants of the plane were located and transported to hospital with serious injuries.
The investigation will be referred to the Transportation Safety Board (Canada), and for this reason no further information will be provided, RCMP said.
The Sea to Sky RCMP thanked Search and Rescue for their assistance during the initial efforts to locate the plane and occupants.
