INVESTIGATORS from Ontario’s Peel Regional Police Homicide Bureau have arrested a second person in relation to the homicide of Gurvinder Nath, a 24-year-old man from Brampton.

In July of 2023, Nath was making a food delivery in the area of Britannia Road and Creditview Road, Mississauga. Upon arriving at the delivery address, the victim was confronted by unknown suspects who attempted to take his vehicle when a physical altercation occurred. The suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle, leaving the victim at the side of the road with life-threatening injuries. The victim was transported to a trauma center where he later succumbed to his injuries.

On Thursday, February 15, 2024, investigators executed a search warrant at a Brampton residence, locating the second accused party and a firearm. A 21-year-old Brampton man, Jazaine Kerr, has been charged with the following offences:

– Second-degree murder

– Unauthorized possession of a firearm

– Careless storage of a firearm

He was held for a bail hearing and was to attend the Ontario Court of Justice in Brampton.

On November 22, 2023, police arrested a young person in relation to the homicide. He was charged with second-degree murder.

To add to the tragedy of Gurvinder Nath’s homicide, his mother in Punjab committed suicide when she was told about her son’s death, a newspaper in Punjab reported in July.

Nath’s mother, Narinder Kaur, was reportedly informed about the tragedy just before the arrival of his body in their Punjab village. The stunned mother reportedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance even before seeing her son’s body.

This remains an active investigation; anyone with information or video footage (dashcam or otherwise) is urged to contact investigators in the Homicide and Missing Persons Bureau at 905-453-2121 extension 3205.
