Serious farm tractor collision in Abbotsford

ON Monday, October 19, just after 7 p.m., Abbotsford Police patrol officers responded to a two-vehicle collision on Vye Road, east of Cole Road, involving a pickup truck and a farm tractor.

The driver of the tractor sustained serious, life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to hospital for treatment. The driver of the pickup truck did not suffer serious injuries, remained at the scene, and is cooperating with investigators, police said.

Preliminary evidence indicates both vehicles were travelling westbound on Vye Road when the pickup truck collided with the rear of the tractor. The impact caused the tractor to leave the roadway and roll over.

The investigation remains in its early stages and is being led by Abbotsford Police’s patrol section, with assistance from the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS). Alcohol is not a factor in the collision.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the collision, observed the truck and tractor prior to the crash, or may have dash camera footage of the incident to contact the Abbotsford Police Department at 604-859-5225.
