STARTING February 10, SkyTrain service on the Production Way-University branch of the Expo Line will operate with a new service pattern until early 2026. This change is necessary to allow crews to safely connect SkyTrain rails to TransLink’s newest Operations and Maintenance Centre in Coquitlam, which will store new SkyTrain vehicles.
The new pattern will impact service frequencies for customers travelling between Braid, Lougheed Town Centre, and Production–Way University stations on the Expo Line. Train frequencies to and from these stations will run every 12 minutes all day instead of every 6-10 minutes. Expo Line customers who travel to and from these stations should build in extra travel time.
Service on the Millennium Line, Canada Line, and the remainder of the Expo Line will be unaffected by this change.
The impacted area is illustrated by the dotted lines on the map.
Some Expo Line trains that currently terminate at Production Way–University Station will instead terminate early at Braid Station before returning to Waterfront Station. Expo Line customers should check the train’s destination sign before boarding as eastbound trains will now terminate at three different stations (King George, Production Way–University, and now Braid).
At Sapperton and Braid stations, customers should pay close attention to next-train destination signs, because both platforms will have some trains heading to Waterfront to maximize service frequencies at those stations.
The new service pattern allows for crews to work safely in the guideway between Braid and Lougheed Town Centre stations. Extra staff and signage will also be positioned at stations to direct customers.
TransLink is building a fourth SkyTrain Operations and Maintenance Centre in Coquitlam as part of our SkyTrain Expansion Program to prepare for the opening of the Broadway Subway Extension of the Millennium Line. This new Centre is necessary for the maintenance and storage of new SkyTrain cars needed for that extension.
