ON Sunday, October 26 at approximately 2:43 a.m., Delta Police responded to a report that shots may have been fired into a residence in the 11200-block of 78B Avenue. Officers located shell casing and confirmed several shots had been fired into the residence. The residence was occupied at the time of the shooting, but no one was injured.
(Incidentally, at about 2:43 a.m. on Sunday, October 26, Surrey Police Service officers also responded to calls of possible shots fired at a residence located in the 7800-block of 124 Street in Surrey. Police have not said if the two may be connected.)
Delta Police said that CCTV shows a suspect getting out of a white SUV and firing multiple shots into the residence before fleeing the scene.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates this to be a targeted incident and related to an extortion investigation. Investigators will be liaising with police partners and the Provincial Extortion Task Force to determine if there are any links to other files.
DPD officers will be conducting door-to-door canvassing in the area. Investigators are seeking any information or video footage around the time of the incident.
