Stranger sexual assault in South Surrey

SURREY RCMP are asking the public for information after a stranger sexual assault in the South Surrey area.

On Wednesday, July 31, 2024 at 8:10 a.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a report of a sexual assault at the community recreation center located in the 16800-block of 24 Avenue. The victim reported she had entered an accessible washroom when she was confronted by an unknown man. The man allegedly assaulted her and groped her before fleeing the stall after she alerted others.

The suspect is described as a white man of medium build, wearing a grey shirt, black shorts and a black hat.

The Surrey RCMP Serious Crime Unit has now taken conduct and is continuing with CCTV canvassing in the area. The victim is being supported by Surrey RCMP Victim Services.

“The brazen nature of this incident is extremely concerning,” said Cpl. Sarbjit K. Sangha, Media Relations Officer for Surrey RCMP. “If you were in the community center and may have seen or heard something suspicious, we urge you to call the Surrey RCMP.”
