AT approximately 1:30 p.m. on Monday, Surrey RCMP responded to a 911 hang up call at a residence in the area of 162 Street and 88 Avenue. Through investigation, police learned a man associated to the residence was armed and barricaded inside the home.

Several officers responded to the area and with assistance from the Lower Mainland Integrated Emergency Response Team, the man was safely taken into police custody at 5:42 p.m.

Police said that 88 Avenue between 160 Street and 164 Street had been closed throughout the afternoon while the incident unfolded, but roads are now re-opening.
