ON June 14, the Surrey RCMP North Community Response Unit (NCRU) executed a search warrant at a residence in the 10100-block of Jackson Road in Maple Ridge, following an investigation into possession of property obtained by crime.

Officers arrested one woman, and seized hundreds of designer brand clothing items, including jackets, tops, leggings, and other sports and fashion items. Police estimate the total value of items to be over $43,000.

The woman is alleged to have advertised the stolen goods for sale using Facebook Market Place. She is believed to have been selling items at a significant discount from the original retail prices. The woman is also alleged to have set up a retail-style storefront within her home to facilitate the selling of the stolen goods.

“If the deal is too good to be true, it probably is and we are asking buyers to be aware,” says Staff-Sgt. Nigel Pronger, North CRU Commander. “The Surrey RMCP apply a comprehensive retail strategy by working closely with our retail partners. The community can also play a part by reporting suspicious activity and not giving a market for these criminals to exploit.”
