Surrey RCMP investigate train fatality

SURREY RCMP say a man was located deceased following a report of a train collision involving a pedestrian on Friday morning.

On July 26 around 7:22 a.m., police attended the railway tracks in the area of 104 Avenue and 124A Street after being notified by the Southern Railway of British Columbia of the collision.

Despite life-saving efforts by frontline police officers, British Columbia Emergency Health Services and Surrey Fire Service, the man succumbed to his injuries on scene.

“It’s very early in the investigation which will be conducted concurrently with the BC Coroner’s Service,” said Sgt. Tammy Lobb, Surrey RCMP Media Relations Officer. “As with any sudden death investigation, police will be speaking with people who may have information regarding the victim and his recent movements to determine the events that led up to this incident.”

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or has information about what transpired before the pedestrian was struck, are requested to contact the Surrey RCMP at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2024-109462.
