FOR the second year in a row, Surrey was selected as a host city for the Treat Accessibly event. This Canada-wide initiative is dedicated to ensuring that every child, regardless of their abilities, can fully enjoy an accessible and inclusive Halloween experience.
The first time was under then-mayor Doug McCallum and his Safe Surrey Coalition.
“I am truly proud to see our city once again selected as a host for the Treat Accessibly event,” said Surrey Mayor Brenda Locke “This event is a shining example of our commitment to making Halloween a fun, safe and accessible occasion for all. I commend the organizers, participants and our entire community for coming together to embrace the spirit of inclusivity to make a difference in the lives of our children.”
The event took place in Newton on Sunday, October 22 and drew over 2,000 participants.
The City of Surrey assisted in finding a suitable location for this event, aligning with its commitment to fostering an inclusive city where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can participate in community celebrations.
