Suspect charged in Richmond residential break-and-enter

A Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit investigation has resulted in a charge against a suspect in an alleged residential break-and-enter.

On January 11, Richmond RCMP received a report of an alleged residential break-and-enter in the 6400-block of Livingstone Place. Due to an increase in reported break-and-enters in the area, the Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit (PCU) was engaged.

A suspect was arrested and Amine Benbihi has since been charged with one count of break-and-enter contrary to Section 348 of the Criminal Code of Canada. After a bail hearing in provincial court, Benbihi was detained and remains in custody.

“We are dedicated to investigating these crimes and holding offenders accountable for their actions,” says Cpl. Ryan Lee, Richmond RCMP Property Crime Unit. “Our team, along with our Criminal Analysis Unit, reviews and analyzes all reported property related offences to assist in identifying potential suspects and to bring charges against those responsible.”

The Richmond RCMP PCU continues to investigate additional break-and-enters reported in the neighbourhood south-west of Gilbert Road and Granville Avenue. Anyone with information regarding these offences is asked to contact Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212.
