Suspects sought after threat at Chilliwack Court House

AT approximately 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday (February 27), the Chilliwack RCMP received a report of an unspecified threat at the Chilliwack Court House at 46085 Yale Road. Police and the B.C. Sheriff’s Department evacuated the court house.
A suspicious item was located outside the courthouse after an initial sweep of the area. Chilliwack RCMP and sheriffs secured the area and evacuated a number of neighbouring businesses to await the arrival of the RCMP Explosives Disposal Unit (EDU).

The EDU determined the item was not a risk to public safety. The businesses and court house returned to regular business.

Follow up investigation into the source of the threat is being carried out by the Chilliwack RCMP with assistance from the RCMP Lower Mainland Forensic Identification Section. Police are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying subjects associated to a vehicle of interest
(see photo). The vehicle is described as an older model, bluish green, four-door sedan with a sun roof.
