PATTULLO Bridge was closed both ways on Friday night while police investigated a three-vehicle collision on the east end of the Pattullo Bridge that resulted in three fatalities and one person being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Around 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, New Westminster Police announced on X: “Vehicle traffic is now open to commuters travelling southbound on the Pattullo Bridge, from New Westminster into Surrey.” But DriveBC said on X that “northbound traffic remains closed.”

At approximately 10:07 p.m. on February 14, police were advised by BC EHS of a collision involving three vehicles, two passenger vehicles and one semi-trailer truck, on the east end of the Pattullo Bridge in the southbound lanes.

Surrey Fire Service and BC EHS administered lifesaving measures to three occupants at the scene, but they were declared deceased at the scene. The three were in the same vehicle. One other occupant of one of the passenger vehicles was transported to hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries. The extent of the surviving occupants’ injuries is unknown. The driver of the semi-trailer truck was unhurt and remained on scene.

Both the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) and the RCMP Surrey Provincial Operations Support Unit Criminal Collision Investigation Team (CCIT) were called in to assist. The investigation is in its early stages and the cause of the collision is unknown.

The Patullo Bridge was closed to traffic both ways as police investigated. Road closures and traffic diversions lasted throughout the night.

Police are requesting any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have dashcam footage, to call Surrey Police Service at 604-599-0502 and quote file 2025-12779 (SP).

Meanwhile, a video on X shows that apparently the truck was not at fault.
