Traffic reopens on Highway 99 after multi-vehicle collision

SURREY Police announced at 9:36 p.m. on Friday that traffic has been reopened on Highway 99 following a multi-vehicle collision.

Police had announced at 5:34 p.m. that both the northbound and southbound lanes of Highway 99 just east of the Highway 99 and Highway 91 interchange had been closed due to a multi-vehicle collision involving a semi-truck and trailer, a bus, and several vehicles.

BCEHS paramedics provided emergency medical care to a total of 13 people. Two people were transported to hospital in serious but stable condition, including one by air ambulance. Eleven other people were transported to hospital in stable condition with less serious injuries.

The investigation and cause of the collision is in its early stages; however, it appears that the collision occurred following the semi-truck and trailer crossing into the southbound lanes.
