Transit Police officer shot at Scott Road SkyTrain Station (update)

A Transit Police officer was shot at Scott Road SkyTrain Station at around 4:20 p.m. and Surrey RCMP are searching for the suspect who is described as an adult male in his 20’s, with dark skin, a dark stubble goatee and mustache (see photos). He was last seen wearing a blue hoodie. The suspect was also wearing white Nike runners with a large black “swoosh”.

Surrey RCMP are asking people to avoid the area around the Scott Road Station and the area around 12500 Block of 113A Street.

At approximately 4:20 p.m., Surrey RCMP received 911 calls reporting a shooting. At the same time, RCMP were alerted by Metro Vancouver Transit Police, that one of their officers had been shot at the Scott Road Skytrain station platform. The officer has received serious but not life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital.

Currently Surrey RCMP, The Lower Mainland Emergency Response Team, and the Integrated Police Dog Services, and Air One are working to locate and apprehend the suspect who is believed to be armed.

Currently, police have two areas of containment set up. King George Boulevard to 114th Avenuen and 125A Street to 124th Street. The Scott Road Skytrain station is closed – no new vehicles can enter the area of the station, but officers are escorting people into the parking lot and assisting them to get their vehicles out of the area.

Police are still asking people to avoid the area.

Residents who live within the containment area are asked to stay inside and lock their doors. They should turn on their exterior lights, and call 911 if they see anything suspicious.
