JUST after 7 p.m. on Tuesday two Vancouver Police officers were walking the beat in Downtown Eastside when one of them was randomly attacked by a suspect armed with an edged weapon. The officer was slashed several times. He was rushed to hospital where he was treated for injuries.

The suspect, who has a history of violence, was arrested.

Vancouver Police Chief Adam Palmer tweeted: “Random senseless violence is intolerable & certain people need to be incarcerated – full stop.”
