VIBC festival getting ready to rock

VANCOUVER: The organisers of the Vancouver International Bhangra Celebration (VIBC) festival are bursting with excitement as the Festival is only 2 days away and they want this year to be the biggest one yet. VIBC have put together a variety of free shows at all times of the day for your viewing pleasure. Bring your friends and your family! VIBC want to see those familiar faces again this year, so come stop by for our Lunchtime Concerts, check out Downtown Bhangra (Friday) or Downtown Bhangra (Saturday), which are some of the largest and not to mention FREE celebrations the Festival has to offer! Be part of the music, the movement and the history of Bhangra.
UK native, and one of our amazing international artists this year, Sunil Kalyan has worked his way up in the industry. His dedication and passion for his craft has led him to develop his own percussion style that infamous worldwide. He is returning to the HSBC City of Bhangra Festival for the second consecutive year. His talents have been utilized by producers such as Punjabi MC in the Bhangra industry, featuring him on “Beware of the Boys”, and Timbaland in the mainstream Hip Hop industry, featuring him on “Get Ur Freak On” by Missy Elliott.

This year he will be performing at rePercussion in Vancouver on the opening night on May 30th In Vancouver and at rePercussion in Surrey on June 6th. You can also catch him at Downtown Bhangra (Friday) on June 7th and Downtown Bhangra (Saturday) on June 8th!
Hundreds of dancers, dozens of musicians and thousands of attendees converge for Downtown Bhangra. Stretching over two days, Downtown Bhangra brings together many local artists, including Inder Kooner, Sukhraj, Dave Bawa, Vancity Bhangra, UBC Bhangra, and a special performance by the HSBC Bank Canada Bhangra Team and more! Downtown Bhangra offers the best of the best. International performances this year will be by Finnish Bhangra group Shava, UNC Bhangra Elite, Cornell Bhangra, Bhangra Knightz, Bhangra Empire, and more.
