Viet Quy John Ly charged in East Vancouver double homicide and stabbing

THE suspect in an East Vancouver double homicide has been charged, following a Vancouver Police investigation.

The B.C. Prosecution Service has approved two counts of second-degree murder and one count of aggravated assault against Viet Quy John Ly, 54, of Vancouver.

Ly remains in custody. The Vancouver Police investigation is ongoing.

VPD responded shortly before 2 p.m. on Friday, September 5 to reports of a stabbing in the Joyce-Collingwood neighbourhood. Police found a 50-year-old woman with life-threatening injuries inside an apartment building near Vanness Avenue and Spencer Street. Officers subsequently located two female homicide victims in another building, near Joyce Street and Vanness.

A 54-year-old man, who was found with non-life-threatening injuries at the scene of the homicides, was arrested.
