West Vancouver Police seek owners of stolen Christmas gifts

WEST Vancouver Police are seeking the owners of what appear to be gifts, after they were found in the hands of a suspected thief.

On December 12 at 2:20 a.m., West Vancouver Police received a report of a man seen checking door handles on parked vehicles in the 1800-block of Bellevue Avenue.

Officers attended the area and quickly located the suspect walking on the seawall nearby. He was arrested and found to be in possession of suspected stolen property, including two gift baskets, multiple pairs of designer sunglasses, and other new items.

Police were unable to identify any owners of the items and the man was released without charges, pending further investigation.

“We would really like to get these items back to the rightful owners,” said Constable Kevin Goodmurphy on Wednesday. “Someone is likely missing them as they appear to be Christmas gifts.”

The suspect, a 31-year-old man from West Vancouver, is well-known to police.

Anyone with information that may help with this investigation is asked to call West Vancouver Police at 604-925-7300. Police file #21-14070.
