William Alexander Clippingdale, 24, charged in homicide of Jason Richard Gill

THE BC Prosecution Service (BCPS) on Tuesday charged 24-year-old William Alexander Clippingdale with second-degree murder in relation last month’s homicide of Jason Richard Gill in Surrey.

On July 23 at approximately 11:50 p.m., Surrey RCMP responded to a complaint of a fight in the 6600-block of King George Boulevard. First responders located a man suffering from multiple stab wounds. Despite life-saving efforts of both police officers and the British Columbia Emergency Health Services (BC EHS), Gill succumbed to his injuries on scene.

“Investigators believe that the parties were known to one another and that this was an isolated incident,” said IHIT Cpl. Esther Tupper. “IHIT would like to thank the Surrey RCMP, Vancouver Police Department (VPD) and the VPD Emergency Response Team for their support throughout the investigation.”

IHIT is requesting anyone who has information about the incident and has not yet spoken with police to contact the IHIT Information Line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.

As this matter is now before the courts, no further information will be released, police said.
