RICHMOND RCMP are issuing a video in an attempt to identify a potential witness to an alleged stranger assault in February 2023.

On February 14, 2023, Richmond RCMP were flagged down in the 6400-block of Buswell Street for a possible medical emergency. It was later discovered the woman had been the victim of an alleged assault. Richmond RCMP subsequently received a second report from another woman who alleged she was assaulted at approximately the same time in the same area. The subsequent investigation determined the two alleged assaults were related.

Richmond RCMP Serious Crime Unit (SCU) identified and arrested a man who was initially charged, however, further information is required to advance this investigation.

“We have exhausted all internal avenues to identify this potential witness which is why we are releasing this video to the public,” said Inspector Michael Cohee, Richmond RCMP Investigative Services Officer, on Thursday. “To the person in this video, you may not even know it, but you may have valuable information that will help advance this investigation. We are asking you to come forward and speak with us.”

These alleged random assaults occurred on Buswell Street, between Cook Road and Saba Road, during the mid-morning hours of February 14. Richmond RCMP is asking anyone who may have been in the area at that time or who may recognize the man in this video to contact Richmond RCMP.

Anyone who may have information regarding this investigation is asked to call Richmond RCMP at 604-278-1212 and quote file number 2023-4877.
