NORTH Vancouver RCMP are looking for witnesses and dash-cam footage in an effort to further their investigation of a serious pedestrian-involved collision.
On Sunday, December 15 at approximately 5:30 p.m., police responded to reports of a pedestrian that was struck near Capilano Road and Paisley Road. It’s alleged that a white Jeep was travelling south on Capilano Road when a pedestrian entered the roadway and was struck. The pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
The pedestrian is being identified as a 16-year-old female from North Vancouver.
“The RCMP are conducting a thorough investigation, and are working with partner agencies including the Integrated Collision Analyst Reconstruction Service (ICARS) to determine what happened,” said Constable Mansoor Sahak, Media Relations Officer for North Vancouver RCMP, on Monday. “Anyone affected by this incident can seek support through the North Vancouver RCMP’s victim services by calling 604-969-7540.”
The driver of the Jeep remained on scene and is cooperating with investigators. The North Vancouver RCMP traffic unit and ICARS are investigating the incident. The cause of the collision is still under investigation, but impairment is not believed to have been a factor.
