19-year-old man shot in Burnaby

BURNABY RCMP’s Investigative Support Team is investigating a late night shooting that has left a victim with non-life-threatening injuries

Police received a report of a possible shooting incident in the area of 19 Avenue and Humphries Avenue at around 11:20 p.m. on Friday. Frontline officers located a 19-year-old man with what is believed to be a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

The man, who is not currently cooperating with the police investigation, was treated on scene before being transported to the hospital.

Witnesses reported that a dark-coloured vehicle left the area before police arrived. A short time later, a similar vehicle was located on fire in North Burnaby.

If you have dash-cam video in the area between 11 p.m. and 12 midnight, you are requested to contact Burnaby RCMP at 604-646-9999.

At this time, investigators do not believe this incident is related to the Lower Mainland Gang Conflict.

“This type of event can be frightening for everyone,” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj. “However we do not believe this targeted attack poses any further danger to the public.”
