The Chevrolet Tahoe is often seen towing a boat, trailer home and filled to the gills with family and their road trip stuff. And it’s no wonder as with space for up to eight or nine passengers depending on the model, a big powerful V8, the Tahoe is a good choice for the large family who undertake a lot of recreational travel. With its beefy truck- derived platform the Tahoe is a traditional full-size SUV that has not died out yet… and probably won’t for a long time.
For 2015 the big fourth generation Tahoe has a major revamp featuring new technology, safety and improved fuel economy. In addition and a fold-flat third-row seat option allows from six to nine passenger accommodation. The big chunky hand some looks remain –suitably updated of course with a big chrome grille and neat attention to details. Power is supplied by a 355-horsepower 5.3-liter V8, matched to a modern and efficient six-speed automatic transmission. There is a choice between two- and four-wheel drive.
The Tahoe does come very well equipped in a base LS level offering three row seating, tri-zone climate control, full power convenience features, Bluetooth connectivity, color display with a rearview camera, . The LT or LTZ trim lines offer more luxury feature such as adaptive magnetic shock absorbers, a power liftgate, power-adjustable pedals, power-actuated second- and third-row seats, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats and an integrated brake controller. The cabin is well- finished and upscale with luxury soft touch plastics, nice leather trim and all the creature conveniences you could want. Space to stretch out in this big SUV is of course a major attraction and the rear integrated fold-flat third-row seat offers a flat cargo area when not in use.
Standard safety equipment is also very impressive and includes such features as stability control, front side as well as neat front center (between seats) airbags and three-row curtain airbags. Also available is safety technology such as: adaptive cruise control with forward collision alert, lane-departure and blind-spot warning with rear cross-traffic alert and a vibrating safety-alert seat. Must have options for those who undertake long recreational trips include a navigation system and a rear entertainment system.
On the road the Chevy Tahoe despite its size is an easy to drive, very comfortable family vehicle with no vices. Handling and steering proved very responsive. Overall the Tahoe is an impressive SUV and has great interior luxury and power features. All you need for the big family road trip or if you haul a boat or trailer.
