The Cadillac CT5 – V is the high performance version of the sport luxury CT5 sedan. The CT5 arrives in both RWD and AWD configurations. The 2021 Cadillac CT5 Standard trims get a 2.0L turbocharged four cylinder engine producing a not too shabby 237 hp/ 258 b-ft. The top of line V-Series as tested is powered by a potent 3.0L twin-turbocharged V6 engine with 360 hp and 405 lb-ft. Both engines are coupled to a slick-shifting 10-Speed automatic transmission. Things get a little crazy however as there will be an even more performance in the form of the new Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing with a monstrous supercharged 6.2L V8 under the hood pumping out a ridiculous 650 hp! That’s not all. Rumour has it that a six-speed manual transmission will be option!
Exterior Features on the V Series include: 19-inch alloy wheels black-out treatment on the grille, window trim, and diffuser, tinted tail lamps, a lip spoiler and four exhausts give to complete the CT5-V’s menacing look. Big Brembo brakes ensure the CT5-V stops as well as it goes. Interior wise, the dashboard features a clean uncluttered look with a much improved choice of upgraded materials and quality. There is a nice chunky Alcantara covered steering wheel, carbon fiber trim on the dashboard and door panels, and a profluence of padded leather on most surfaces giving the CT5 a premium look. The 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system in the CT-5 has been carried forward for 2021 along with the lattes technology, that also includes, Cloud-based natural voice recognition with dual microphone, Cadillac Connected Services trial, 3 USB ports and SD card slot, HD Radio and SiriusXM and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. .The 15 speaker Bose audio system sound tremendous. There is extra space in the back with A/C vents, cup holders, and charging outlets in the form of a USB and 12V outlet. All around room is very spacious with plenty of legroom.
To sum up, you just have to take a test drive if you are cross shopping with likes of the BMW 3-Series and the Audi A4. The CT5-V is better equipped, offers more value for money and does not give much away. And let’s not forget the deadly 600 hp Blackwing edition set for mid-2021 introduction. A very impressive domestic sports sedan for now, and highly recommended.
