The Lower Mainland District Emergency Response Team was deployed to assist with the arrest. The suspect was located inside the residence at approximately 7 p.m. and taken into custody without incident.
The New Westminster Police will be recommending charges against a 30-year-old New Westminster resident related to assault with a weapon, dangerous operation of a conveyance, uttering threats, and criminal harassment.
“We’re still in the early stages of this investigation, but there is no ongoing risk to the public,” said Sgt. Justine Thom. “We thank neighbours in the area for their patience and cooperation as we took this suspect into custody.”
