Crazy for Cricket Sleepover event for ICC World Cup India vs Pakistan Match

unnamedTORONTO: The Valley Park Go Green Cricket Field Project will be hosting its second Crazy for Cricket Sleepover Event at Valley Park Middle School in honour of the 2015 ICC World Cup Match between arch rivals India and Pakistan! The event will also form part of the TO2015 Ignite spirit campaign ahead of the Pan Am & Parapan Am Games! Guests are invited to bring their loved ones, pillows and blankets to VPMS on Saturday, February 14 (yes, on Valentine’s Day!) because they will be up all night spreading the love and watching the big match on a Rogers feed on the back wall of the school cafetorium. Admission at the door is free and children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. Entertainment starts Saturday at 9 pm and the BIG MATCH begins at 10:30 pm. All activities will end at 6:30 am on Sunday morning when the game is over. Attendees will enjoy a light dinner of samosas and biryani, snacks and a bagel breakfast and participate in the fun and fare that is the India and Pakistan cricket rivalry. Most importantly, come celebrate with dignitaries and the Consuls General of India and Pakistan. The goal is to break VPGG’s 2011 record for hosting Canada’s largest sleepover ever, the first Crazy for Cricket Sleepover Event in honour of the ICC World Cup finals between India and Sri Lanka.

The $1.8 million Valley Park Go Green Cricket Field Project successfully built last year an environmentally sustainable not-for-profit cricket field for mostly South Asian new immigrant families in the VPMS backyard and adjacent sub-licensed Hydro land. Fundraising continues for outdoor LED sports lights. VPGG now hosts free year round cricket & coaching programs for youth living in the Neighbourhood Improvement Area of Thorncliffe Park & Flemingdon Park. The field officially opens this spring 2015.

Event address: 130 Overlea Blvd., Toronto, ON, M3C 1B2, northwest corner of Don Mills Road and Overlea Blvd.
