SEVEN charges have been approved against 32-year-old Kolton Lockyer after a year-long investigation into a fatal collision that occurred on Hastings Street near Willingdon Avenue on July 19, 2023.
A woman was killed and two other people were injured after a collision between a silver/grey Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a Toyota Supra that occurred just before 5 a.m. The female victim was the passenger in the Toyota Supra.
On September 10, seven charges were approved against Lockyer: criminal negligence causing death; criminal negligence causing bodily harm; operation at or over 80mg causing death; operation at or over 80mg causing bodily harm; impaired operation causing death; impaired operation causing bodily harm; and failure to stop at an accident.
The count of “failure to stop at an accident” pertains to a hit-and-run collision that occurred in Vancouver prior to the fatal collision in Burnaby, police said.
“Burnaby RCMP’s Criminal Collision Investigation Team worked tirelessly to bring this investigation to this stage,” said Inspector Peri Mainwaring, Burnaby RCMP’s Community Programs Officer. “This is an extremely tragic event, but we hope this process can help bring some healing to the family and friends of the victim.”
