Update – Crews have repaired the gas line and traffic is open along 6th Street.

NEW Westminster Police says they have closed 6th Street ​​between 6th Avenue and 5th Avenue due to a gas line rupture. ​

Crews are on scene and it is anticipated the road will remain closed for several hours. Police are asking people to avoid the area.

Police thanked residents and motorists for their patience and said an update will be made once 6th Street has reopened.
