Waqas Tahir Qureshi, 38, of Mississauga charged following ‘weapons dangerous call’

ONTARIO’S Peel Regional Police officers from the 11 Division Criminal Investigation Bureau have seized a firearm and laid multiple criminal charges after patrol officers respond to a weapons dangerous call in Mississauga.

On June 8, at approximately 10:27 p.m., patrol officers attended the area of Tenth Line West and Thomas Street to investigate an altercation amongst a group of individuals, where someone was allegedly in possession of a firearm. Investigation revealed that the accused party was in an argument with the other individuals and at some point, he discharged a round before fleeing the area. There were no reports of any physical injuries.

A short time later, Waqas Tahir Qureshi, 38-year-old man from Mississauga was located, arrested and charged with the following criminal offences:

  • Utter Threat to Cause Death or Bodily Harm
  • Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device or Ammunition
  • Point Firearm
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Assault with A Weapon
  • Firearm – Use While Committing Offence
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Carrying concealed weapon
  • Possession of Firearm, etc. Contrary to Order
  • Tampering with serial number of Firearm
  • Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Schedule I Cocaine

He was held pending a bail hearing.
