THIS past weekend, Maple Ridge RCMP opened its doors to the public to help kick off National Police Week and celebrate their new name and long-standing commitment to the community.

Over a thousand people showed up to the free Open House on Saturday, May 9 that featured many interactive booths with police vehicles, equipment, and demonstrations on display along with games and prizes.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage with many different officers and learn about police operations, as well as get a sneak peak inside the jail cells and speak to partner agencies.

“We were thrilled by the amazing turnout and enjoyed answering residents’ questions about some of the resources, tools, and techniques we use to ensure public safety. Most importantly, this event is an opportunity to strengthen our connection with the community that we are so proud to serve,” said Maple Ridge RCMP Inspector Martin Guay.

On April 1, the former integrated Ridge Meadows RCMP Detachment transitioned to two fully autonomous detachments, serving the City of Maple Ridge and the City of Pitt Meadows. The former Ridge Meadows Detachment facility was renamed as the Maple Ridge RCMP Detachment and retains the same address and non-emergency contact information.
