GURWINDER Singh, a 24-year-old male, has been arrested by the Surrey Police Service and is now charged with several Criminal Code offences following a vehicle stop on the evening of Monday, May 11 in Surrey’s City Centre neighbourhood.
On May 11 at approximately 7:45 p.m., SPS’s Crime Reduction Unit officers stopped a vehicle for a traffic-related infraction near 146 Street and 108 Avenue. As a result of the officer’s investigation, officers arrested one of the occupants after it was found he had a firearm in his possession.
Gurwinder Singh has now been charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
- one count of possession of a loaded restricted or prohibited firearm,
- one count of occupying a vehicle knowing there was a prohibited firearm in the vehicle,
- one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm, knowing they did not have a license,
- one count of possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm without a license,
- one count of carrying a concealed weapon,
- one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and
- one count of careless storage of a firearm.
He is currently in custody awaiting a bail hearing and his next court appearance is scheduled for the afternoon of May 12.
