IHIT investigating case of missing person, Stewart McLean of Lions Bay

SQUAMISH RCMP is transitioning an ongoing missing person investigation to Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT).

On May 18, Squamish RCMP received a missing person report after Stewart McLean had not been seen since May 15. It was reported that he was last seen at his residence in Lions Bay.

Squamish RCMP initiated an investigation and, through investigative efforts, uncovered evidence that led investigators to believe McLean was the victim of a homicide.

On May 20, IHIT deployed and assumed conduct of the investigation. Squamish RCMP continues to work closely with IHIT and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service (IFIS) to advance the investigation.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the IHIT information line at 1-877-551-IHIT (4448) or by email at ihitinfo@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
