Pedestrian seriously injured in two-vehicle crash in Maple Ridge

ON Monday, June 1 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Maple Ridge RCMP responded to a report of a pedestrian-involved motor vehicle collision at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Laity Street.

Officers on scene learned that a pickup truck travelling eastbound on Lougheed Highway struck a grey four-door Mazda traveling northbound on Laity Street. The collision caused a pedestrian, who was crossing a crosswalk in the area, to be subsequently struck.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

The drivers of both vehicles were uninjured and remained on scene.

The eastbound lanes of Lougheed Highway were closed for a short period but have since been re-opened.

The investigation is still ongoing.

No further information is available at this time, police said.
