Surrey Police seek public’s help to ID sex assault suspect; another suspect arrested

SURREY Police Service (SPS) is investigating a stranger sexual assault of a female youth that occurred on May 30 in which one person has been arrested and charged and another suspect has yet to be identified. Police are now asking for the public’s help to identify the unknown suspect.

SPS frontline officers were called at approximately 4:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 regarding a report that a female youth had been sexually assaulted by two men sometime earlier that day in a forested area near 9800 Whalley Boulevard.

Officers spoke with the victim who was able to provide the descriptions of both suspects. Officers were able to locate one suspect nearby and arrested him without incident.

Ricki Randall Taysup, a 38-year-old male, has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of sexual interference. Taysup remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing and his next scheduled court date is June.

The second suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his late 30’s, approximately 5’6” tall and 170 lbs, with long dark-coloured hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured coat, dark-coloured ball cap, dark-coloured pants, light-coloured shoes, and was carrying dark-coloured bags.

Police have exhausted efforts to try and identify the suspect and are now asking for the public’s help to identify him. SPS is asking the public to look at the photos released of the unidentified suspect and contact police if you know who he is.
