THE Vancouver Police Department is expanding its operational capabilities and commitment to environmental sustainability with the introduction of new electric all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) into frontline policing operations.

The deployment is believed to be the first known use of Can-Am Outlander Electric ATVs by a North American police agency.

The new electric ATVs will provide officers with an efficient and environmentally responsible option for patrols in parks, trails, waterfront areas, and other locations where police vehicles may have limited access. The vehicles will support a range of public safety, crime prevention, community engagement, and rapid response in difficult-to-access areas.

Their near-silent operation also assists officers conducting enforcement and public safety initiatives in areas where minimizing noise disruption is important.

Vancouver Police say that the introduction of the electric ATVs reflects their ongoing efforts to evaluate emerging technologies that enhance operational effectiveness while reducing environmental impact.
