MAPLE Ridge RCMP announced on Thursday that they have made an arrest in the shooting incident that occurred Tuesday evening in Maple Ridge.
The 44-year-old male suspect, who is known to police, was taken into custody without incident.
The victim remains in hospital in stable condition.
Investigators confirm that the incident stemmed from an altercation between the alleged suspect and the victim who were known to each other. There is no further risk to the public at this time.
On Tuesday, July 21 at approximately 7 p.m., Maple Ridge RCMP responded to a report of shots fired outside a residence in the 21600-block of Lougheed Highway. Officers immediately attended the scene and located a 32-year-old male victim who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to hospital in serious condition.
Officers cleared the area and surrounding properties and spoke with multiple people on scene.
The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Maple Ridge RCMP Serious Crimes Unit.
