A 40-year-old man has been charged after a residential break-in on Wednesday night.
Police were called to Grant Street and Victoria Drive when a resident discovered a man inside her home.
The victim was on the second floor and when she went downstairs, she came face-to-face with the suspect. The man allegedly grabbed several items before fleeing the home. Neighbours heard the woman scream and quickly called police, providing officers with a description of the fleeing suspect.
Officers in the area located a man matching the description, and with assistance from the Canine Unit, he was arrested.
Some of the stolen property was recovered and returned to the victim.
Malcolm Anthony Lowe, 40, has been charged with one count of break-and-enter. Lowe remains in custody pending a bail hearing.
“We’re thankful the neighbours promptly reported the incident,” says Constable Megan Lui. “They provided information that helped our officers make the arrest.”
