VANCOUVER Police are investigating an assault that took place Monday evening near Gladstone Street and Vaness Avenue.

At approximately 10:30 p.m., the victim was riding an e-scooter when an unidentified man approached from behind on a silver bicycle and struck him in the face with a hammer.

Police also received a report from a second individual who stated that a suspect matching the same description threatened him with a hammer. No assault occurred in that incident.

The suspect is described as a white man in his late 40s, with a grey buzz cut and facial stubble. He was last seen wearing a grey T-shirt, black pants, and black shoes, and riding a silver bicycle.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed either incident, or who has dash camera footage or information that could help identify the suspect, to contact police.
