DAVID Eby on Sunday at a media availability slammed Interim Conservative Leader Lorne Doerkson for failing to stand up to the extremists in his own party.
He said: “The current Conservative leader was unwilling to show the leadership to remove extremist candidates from his slate by the deadline yesterday. I saw him on national news and he said he doesn’t agree with his own candidate about her homophobic views, but he’s going to have a strict talk with her – after the election.”
Eby added: “British Columbians need someone who’s willing to stand up. Forget standing up to Trump – what about just standing up to one of your own potential candidates, and just say no, I’m sorry, your hateful actions, your hateful attacks on people who are gay and lesbian, are not acceptable in our team.
“He was unwilling to do that. He’s unwilling to even have a conversation with this candidate about her hateful views until after the election.”
He noted: “He’s not going to stand up to his own candidates, he’s not going to stand up to Trump, he’s not going to stand up to the developers that have unsold homes, he’s not going to stand up to the oil and gas companies, he’s not going to stand up to the big grocery store chains to make life more affordable for British Columbians. To say this is the wrong approach for British Columbia is to understate it.”
