A suspect in custody after woman dies in alleged Richmond arson

THE Integrated Homicide Investigation Team is on scene in the 10,000-block of Cornerbrook Crescent in Richmond after a fire left one woman dead and a teenage clinging to life in hospital.

Police and Richmond Fire Rescue were called to the home just after 2 a.m. on April 13 after reports that it was engulfed in flames.

Once the fire was contained investigators entered the home to find 66-year-old Elaine Leznoff dead in the residence.

A 13-year-old boy was also taken to hospital and is in critical condition.

A suspect has been taken into custody.

IHIT investigators are expected to be on scene for a long time as they determine the cause of the fire.
