ON Friday at 5:28 a.m., Abbotsford Police frontline officers responded to a serious collision on McCallum Road, just south of Busby Road.

Emergency crews arrived to find a pedestrian with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a white pickup truck. The pedestrian was transported to hospital but, sadly, did not survive.

The driver of the truck remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators. While impairment is not believed to be a factor, poor lighting conditions in the area and dark clothing are considered factors in the collision.

The investigation remains in its early stages and is being supported by the Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS). McCallum Road is currently closed and is expected to remain closed for several hours.
