Abbotsford Police say there was no assault on August 6

Sgt. Judy Bird

ABBOTSFORD Police said on Thursday their Major Crime detectives have concluded their investigation into the August 6 ‘stranger robbery / assault’ report and say this assault did not occur as initially reported and was influenced by a historical traumatic event that occurred in another province.

Police added that there is no risk to public safety.

Police said the investigators will work with community partners to ensure this victim receives appropriate support.  “The victim would like to offer an apology to our community for causing alarm,” said Sgt. Judy Bird.
