MEDIA have unearthed some shocking facts about Amandeep Singh, the fourth accused in the murder of prominent Khalistan advocate Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Surrey last June.

Last Saturday, May 11, the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) announced that it had arrested a fourth individual – Amandeep Singh, 22, an Indian national — who had since been charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder for his role in Nijjar’s homicide. He had resided in Brampton, Surrey, and Abbotsford.

Indian nationals Karan Brar, 22, Kamalpreet Singh, 22, and Karanpreet Singh, 28, had already been arrested in Edmonton, Alberta, on May 3 and charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder in connection to Nijjar’s murder.

All four men are expected to appear in court next week on May 21.

Amandeep Singh was already in custody for unrelated firearms charges by Peel Regional Police. He and four other Brampton men were charged with firearm-related offences. Amandeep Singh was also charged with drug offences in addition to breach of conditions. The case was reported by The VOICE on November 5, 2023 (see details below).

Now media are reporting that Amandeep Singh, who was in Canada on a temporary visa, actually appeared in a Surrey courtroom on June 16, 2023 – two days before Nijjar’s murder on June 18 — in connection to charges of flight from police and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He had been arrested in Surrey on a warrant after fleeing from police in March 2023.

CBC reports that court documents show that his case came up before the court again on July 7, 2023 — 19 days after Nijjar’s murder — and was headed for a trial scheduled for later this year, when he was arrested in Brampton last November.

CBC said that B.C. court documents from last June show that Amandeep Singh signed an undertaking agreeing to not possess firearms or ammunition, and to not be in the driver’s seat of any motor vehicle.

As The VOICE reported last year, Peel Regional Police on November 3 located three men in the area of Highway 50 and Rutherford Road in the City of Vaughan. As a result of an ongoing investigation, three men were arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm. A search of the males revealed they were in possession of a FN 509 9mm pistol. The firearm contained a 24-round extended magazine loaded with 20 rounds. The accused parties were informed of the additional charges.

The same day, officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of Mountainash Road and Bovaird Drive in Brampton. As a result of an ongoing investigation, two men were arrested and charged with unauthorized possession of a firearm. A search of the males resulted in locating, two extended magazines with a 24-round capacity containing 9mm ammunition.  Both men were advised of the additional charge.

The other four men were Jobanpreet Singh, 20, Maninder Singh, 21, Ramanpreet Singh, 30, and Swaranpreet Singh, 20.

Amandeep Singh was charged with unauthorized possession of firearm; knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm; possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm; possession of a prohibited device or ammunition knowing its possession is unauthorized; occupant of motor vehicle knowing there was firearm; possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm; fail to comply with release order (two counts), fail to comply with undertaking, and possession of a controlled substance (two counts).

Interestingly, Global News reports that last June, Amandeep Singh was staying in the basement suite of a $2-million home in Surrey, about a six-minute drive from where Nijjar was killed, according to court records.

He then left for Brampton where he stayed with a friend until his arrest last November.
