Aggravated assault charge against three South Asians of Brampton upgraded to manslaughter

Mississauga: Peel Regional Police officers from the 12 Division, Criminal Investigations Bureau, became involved in an investigation of an aggravated assault which occurred on March 6.

The victim and three accused parties were working at their place of employment, cleaning floors at about 5:15 a.m. that day when an altercation took place between the victim and the three others, during which the three accused parties assaulted the victim with a compressed air hose, causing serious life threatening injuries.  The victim was taken to a local hospital.  Attempts to locate the three accused men were unsuccessful, resulting in warrants being issued.

On March 11, the three accused – Abhijeet Singh Nagra, 20, Prabhjeet Singh, 20, and Dilsher Singh, 21, all of Brampton – were arrested in Quebec and returned to Peel Region to face charges of aggravated assault in relation to this incident.

Meanwhile, the victim’s condition continued to deteriorate and he passed away on March 18.

On March 30 the three accused were advised of the upgraded charge of manslaughter and held pending a bail hearing.
